Scapa Healthcare Introduces Hydrocolloid Offering for Cold Sore Treatment

27 Nov, 2018

Discreet OTC Patches to Conceal & Prevent the Spread of the HSV-1 Virus

Windsor, CT – November 27, 2018 – Scapa Healthcare, a global strategic outsource partner of skin friendly turn-key solutions, today announced the availability of Scapa Soft-Pro® Hydrocolloid Cold Sore Patches for the treatment of HSV-1 blisters. Scapa Healthcare’s line of proprietary consumer patches are a proven safe and effective drug-free alternative to over-the-counter topical remedies for oral herpes and help prevent the spread of the herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1).

Hydrocolloids are self-adhering, flexible, conformable, waterproof and latex free. Designed for easy and sanitary application, the cold sore patches absorb blister fluid to promote healing. With a discreet skin tone appearance, the patches conceal the affected area and provide a bacterial and viral barrier, protecting the sore from external contaminants.

“Roughly half of the population under the age of 50 have HSV-1 because it is highly contagious,” said Anne Wibaux, Scapa Healthcare’s Principal Scientist. “While only one in four of those will experience reoccurring fever blisters, those individuals want to mask and treat the condition. Our hydrocolloid cold sore treatment is based on the same principal of moist wound healing and occlusion provided by the hydrocolloid technology used in wound care."
